Lengkung is an architecture studio in Yogyakarta. We design houses, prayer houses and small public rooms — always starting at the door.

On thresholds
A house is not a list of rooms. It is the order you walk through them in — the porch where you slow down, the step where the floor turns cool, the arch where the light changes. We draw those moments first and let the rest of the building follow.

Four rooms from recent work
Walk through
four doors
Each project is entered through one decisive threshold. Scroll to step through them, one room at a time.

01 / 04 · 2024
The arcade
Langgar Ngasem — Ngasem, Yogyakarta
Seven plastered arches step down to the ablution court. Shade first, then the view.

02 / 04 · 2023
The stair
Rumah Dua Teras — Kaliurang, Sleman
A stair that is also a reading room — every landing faces a different window.

03 / 04 · 2022
The light well
Omah Sumur — Kotagede, Yogyakarta
Brick curves pull noon light four storeys down into the kitchen.

04 / 04 · 2025
The garden
Rumah Kabut — Tawangmangu, Karanganyar
The last threshold is outside: timber box, deep eaves, a lawn for the mist to sit on.

How a house begins
01
Listen
Two weeks on your land before a single line: where the sun lands at 7am, where the rain runs, where you take your shoes off.
02
Draw by hand
Sections first, plans second. We build card models at 1:50 and walk them with you, threshold by threshold.
03
Build with the tukang
We work with the same three crews from Bantul and Klaten. Brick, teak and lime plaster, sourced inside 60 km.
04
Stay a year
We visit through one full wet and dry season and adjust shading, gutters and planting after you move in.
